Living with a Kingdom Perspective: Lessons from My Conversation with Cameron Garner

This week on the Grit and Grace Podcast, I had the privilege of sitting down with Cameron Garner—a minister, author, and the founder of the Royal Identity Outreach Training (RIOT) school. Cameron is passionate about helping believers live in the freedom, identity, and authority that Christ has already given them, and let me tell you—our conversation was full of insight, encouragement, and a few moments that hit straight to the heart.

Transformation Starts in the Mind

One of the things Cameron shared that really stuck with me is how transformation doesn’t start with what we do, but with how we think. He reminded us that the renewal of the mind is at the center of living out our faith. It’s not about striving harder or proving ourselves—it’s about letting God shift the way we see ourselves, our circumstances, and even our future.

He called it living with a “Kingdom Perspective.” That means remembering that we are not victims of our past, our trauma, or even our mistakes. Instead, we are sons and daughters of God, created with purpose, authority, and access to freedom.

Breaking Free from the Lies

Cameron also talked about freedom and deliverance—how many of us are walking around with lies that feel like chains. Lies like:

  • “I’ll never change.”

  • “This is just who I am.”

  • “I’ve messed up too much.”

But truth brings freedom. Cameron shared how the Gospel is not just about forgiveness, but also about freedom—freedom from shame, addiction, fear, and everything that holds us back.

Identity Changes Everything

As someone who has walked through her own seasons of struggle and recovery, I felt this deeply. When you finally begin to see yourself the way God sees you, everything changes. Your choices, your relationships, your healing—all of it starts from knowing your true identity.

Cameron’s book, The Kingdom Perspective, dives into this even further. He covers transformation, identity, freedom, and the prophetic in ways that are both practical and powerful. If you’re looking for a resource to help you take your walk with God to the next level, I highly recommend checking it out.

My Takeaway

What I walked away with from this conversation is simple but life-changing: transformation is not about striving—it’s about surrender. It’s about letting God reframe our story and reshape our identity so that we can live in freedom and victory.

And that’s what Grit and Grace is all about. We share these stories so you and I can both be reminded—we’re not alone, and we can rise again.
